Moving Outdoors
Woodbrook Archers will be moving outdoors on Thursday the 24th of May. We will be shooting every Thursday night from 6.30 till dark in the grounds of St. Brendans. Our last Night in St. Gerard's will be Friday the 18th of May.
New Beginners Course
A new beginners course will start on Thursday the 31st of May at 6.30. There are still a couple of spaces available so if you know anyone that wants to start let Rohan know.
The National Field Championships
On St. Patrick's weekend Woodbrook Archers hosted the National and Open Field Archery Championships. The event was a big success with over 70 archers competing. Archers came from Germany, Holland and England as well as a large contingent from Northern Ireland. A challenging course with gale force winds and the occasional blizzard seen the Dargle Valley competition rated as the most difficult world ranking tournament in four years. Maybe not what everyone wanted but the course layers are very proud of it.
We would like to thank the Duff's for allowing us to use the fantastic venue as well as all the archers in the club who helped build the course and run the event. Well done to everyone involved for putting this competition firmly on the world map.
The Euronations
The Summerhill shoot on the 19th and 20th of May will be the qualifier for the Senior Euronations and the Senior World Championships in Germany.
So far in the qualifiers for the Junior Euronations Ian Karey has put in two qualifying scores and Naomi Murtagh has scored one.
Schools Shoot
Well done to Dearbhla Bailey who won gold in her first schools shoot. Dearbhla's score would also have won the two classes in front of her.
Kendal
Two Woodbrook Archers travelled to Kendal in England as part of the Irish squad for the World Ranking Field Tournament on the 5th and 6th of May. Rohan O'Duill finished 3rd in the men's barebow. Four Woodbrook archers are travelling to British Field Championships at the end of May. Good luck to all.
