Getting Started in Archery

Getting started in Archery with Wicklow Archers is an easy, fun and hopefully not too expensive process!

Attending a Course

The first thing to do is to attend a 6-week Entry to Archery course. We run these regularly and you can find more information here: Courses.

The course is run on a Wednesday night in Shoreline, Greystones and runs for an hour-and-a-half each night. You can find a map with Shoreline Leisure Centre here: Club Venues

All the equipment is provided for you – in fact you get to keep most of it! You will get a quiver, 3 arrows and 2 shooting aids that every archer requires: A finger-tab and an arm-guard. The bow will be lent to you on the night and will have to be returned after each lesson.

After the Course

In order to continue to shoot with us, you will have to join the club and we really hope you do! Joining the club means that you can shoot at Shoreline and our other, outdoor shooting locations in Co. Wicklow. You can find out more about the club here: Club Information category archive

You will also be able to take part in one of our other courses, which we run as demand requires, and join in the many competitions run by Wicklow Archers and other clubs around the country, as well as those organised by the national body, the Archery Ireland.
